Dental insurance rant

Be forewarned that this will be a rant post, and in those I tend to write my stream of thought.

It completely baffles me that at some point in time we decided as a society that our teeth are a separate organism living within us. Like gut bacteria. That must be it, right?

Then, how come that every single country I’m aware of treats teeth as a separate coverage for insurance? Why is it that we divorced dental problems from those of the rest of our body?!

Dental coverage is a universal right, and should be free.

Free as in state covered and taxed, with humane and sensible established minimums. You know, like for the rest of our freaking bodies.

To a moron like me, it seems pretty obvious that mouth and teeth are pretty darn important. For speech and its potential impediments. For eating and its myriad of disorders.

We do know that as we age, teeth deteriorate and fall off because of missing bacteria in them. But that is no excuse. Literally everything in our body does deteriorate as we age!
